Gestión de la sala de lectura de Colecciones Especiales a través de Alma: logros y desafíos
On June 2, 2023, Eduardo Prieto and I presented Gestión de la sala de lectura de Colecciones Especiales a través de Alma: logros y desafíos at the XX Jornadas de EXPANIA, the annual gathering of the Ex Libris user community in Spain.
It was particularly meaningful for me to share our work with the Ex Libris community in Spain. The conference took place at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and as someone originally from Madrid, I would have loved to attend in person. Unfortunately, the dates didn't work out, so Eduardo and I had to deliver our presentation virtually.
During our session, we shared the University of Miami Libraries' experience using Alma to manage the Special Collections reading room. We discussed how we adapted Alma to meet the specific needs of these collections, along with some of the successes and challenges we encountered, particularly in managing circulation, maintaining control over materials, and tracking their use.
It was a great opportunity to share our experience and although I had to participate through a screen this time, being part of a professional event in my hometown always means something special to me.
